My story
I'm Zack — a business major at UVM, running Haul or Nothing out of one truck and a trailer I rebuilt myself. Here's why it exists, and how it actually runs day to day.
Before this, I was detailing cars, working sales, doing construction — picking up whatever paid, learning a lot, but always inside somebody else's business. I didn't want another job. I wanted something that was actually mine, that could grow past just me.
I didn't have capital to burn, so I picked something I could start with almost none of: a truck, a trailer I rebuilt myself, and a phone number. Junk removal doesn't need a storefront or a loan — it needs you to show up, do the job right, and do it again tomorrow. That's the whole playbook, and it's one anyone can run.
I'm not dropping out to do this — I'm still at UVM finishing a business degree, still making time for friends, still a normal 20-something. Running Haul or Nothing hasn't meant giving all that up. It's meant getting a lot more deliberate about where my time actually goes — answering a customer between classes instead of scrolling, using a free afternoon to book jobs instead of killing it on my phone.
The plan was never to stay a one-truck operation forever. I want to grow this into something that can put other young, hungry Vermonters to work — a real summer job, a real paycheck, run by someone who was in their shoes not that long ago. Every job booked gets me one step closer to hiring the next kid instead of just paying my own tuition.

If you're 19, 20, 22 and spending your nights watching someone else build something on your phone — stop. Go build your own version, even a small one. You don't need permission, funding, or a perfect plan. You need a truck, a trailer, a skill, a bag of tools — whatever your version of that is — and the willingness to start before you feel ready.
